The sacristan’s duties are under the direction of the pastor, or administrator. This man or woman is responsible for the sacristies, the care of precious objects, and cleanliness, and order within the church, including the linens, and vestments. 

It is the responsibility of the sacristan to prepare the church for celebrations and ceremonies including, but not limited to, weddings, funerals, baptisms, penance services, prayer services. 

The Sacristan works closely with the pastor, administrator, or Master of Ceremonies. The work of the Sacristan should be revered by all.
